TGC Summer Kicks off at SSM...

We are really going for it this week at Shattuck-St. Mary's School during TGC's Prodigy and Verge Residence camp. Sunday night started off with an hour long on-ice session where we focused on skating and fundamental movements. A chance for our goalies to get on the ice and prepared for the vigorous week of training ahead of them.

We have had 7 great on-ice sessions already and all of our goalies are working hard and getting better. This week is SOLD OUT and we have goalies training with us from all over including: Colorado, South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin. In just 3 days, we have focused on fundamental movements, skating, rebound control, recoveries, walkouts, passouts, cut-ins, high and low one-timers, wrap-arounds, screens, deflections, and most importantly...always watching the puck!

We have spent time each day off the ice analyzing individualized video, as well as looking at NHL game tape and breaking down different goaltender's situational play. During our off-ice training this week, our focus has been on strength, speed, quickness, agility, and flexibility.

Our nightly activities have been full of excitement with a best of three Crickle Ball Series on Monday night, followed up with a night in front of the TV watching an exciting Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs featuring some great goaltending by Chris Osgood and Marc-Andre Fleury. Two goaltenders with very different styles, who have the ability to make big saves; something that we love to see at TGC. We want OUR goalies to work hard to develop and fine tune their own individual style. We like to show a variety of ways to approach different situations, but want our goalies to choose what works best for them.

We have another big Crickle Ball Series coming up tonight! The teams are battling hard and the Tendies are looking to even up the series. Crickle Ball is TGC's original stick ball game using a goalstick paddle for a bat.

Well... it's time for us to get back out there and GO FOR IT!
