Sadjadi Completes Rookie Season In GMHL

Geoff Sadjadi, an SSM Alum who won a National Championship with the Sabers in 2008 recently completed his rookie season with the Innisfil Lakers (Innisfil, ON, Canada) of the Greater Metro Junior 'A' Hockey League. Sadjadi, a 5'9, 160 lb, 19-year old from Faribault, MN and the Lakers finished the regular season as South Division Champions with a record of 36-6-0-1 for 73 pts, just 2 points ahead of second place Bradford. The Lakers made it to the South Division Finals beating the Ontario Lightning Rams 3 games to 1 in a best-of-five series in the Quarterfinals. Innisfil received a 'bye' in the Semifinals before falling to the Deseronto Storm in six games in a best-of-seven series in the South Division Finals.

Sadj finished the regular season 14-3 in 17 games played and 930 minutes between the pipes for the Lakers. There were no statistics available for saves or save percentage during the regular season, but Geoff finished third in the GMHL with a 2.90 goals against average, giving up just 45 goals, while posting 1 shutout, 1 assist, and racking up 17 penalty minutes. During the playoffs, Sadj went 3-3 in 326 minutes, giving up 20 goals, stopping 86 of 106 shots on goal for a .811 save percentage and 3.68 goals against average, and picking up 4 penalty minutes.
